Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez are Back in Walang KaParis

 

Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez will be returning as a pair in the upcoming movie Walang KaParis, six years after their hit film Kita Kita. 

Directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, Walang KaParis follows Paris-based Filipino artist Jojo (played by Marquez) as he searches for a mysterious woman that frequently appears in his thoughts as he paints. Soon, he crosses paths with Marie (portrayed by De Rossi), who claims to be the muse he’s looking for.

Alessandra, Empoy and Director Sigrid share their fond moments and take us behind the scenes in filming Walang KaParis. On the press junket the following questions were asked.

For Sigrid, what are the things that your two actors need to unlearned since the two has build chemistry already from their first film?

Sigrid: Before kasi sa Kita Kita parang kasi as themselves iyon eh and at that time first time nila magkakilala nun and talagang iyong script was adjusted for them, this time it's level up na from Kita Kita, iyong acting nila and they are really portraying a different role. Since they became close already from doing their first film, ang lagi kong nireremind sa kanila na hindi sila magbestfriend, kumbaga they need to unlearn that muna for the shoot, kailangan mainlove sila sa isa't isa and that is really hard.

Alex: Hindi kami umabot.

Sigrid: So iyon ang mas challenge sa kanila actually because they were very close already.

For Alessandra and Empoy, what are the new discoveries that you have within each other?

Empoy: Si Alex madami siyang lamig.

Alex: Si Empoy mabaho ang papa.

Alex: Madami hanggang ngayon madami pa kami nadidiscover pero parang sa amin na lang iyon eh noh, 

Alex to Empoy: Di kita sisiraan, kawawa ka naman eh

For Sigrid, what make this love story different with other love story we have watched?

Sigrid: This is a love story about taking risk in love and loving someone even if that someone doesn't even love you and what are you going to do if you are in that situation.

For Alex and Empoy, what will people going to expect from you for this film?

Alex: Sana last na toh.

Alex: Hinde hinde hinde hinde, ibang Alempoy na kasi to eh, higher level kami, hindi na siya cutesy cutesy like Kita-Kita na two quick short lived romance with tragedy, ito deep love. Iyong Alempoy naman, I think nagustuhan siya ng mga tao because pareho lang kami na simpleng tao.

For Alex, Empoy and Sigrid, how do you feel that your film is going to be released on streaming platform and not be shown in cinemas?

Alex: We are happy, one, pademic, two, sabay sabay makakapanood wordwide, hindi tulad ng dati na abang ng abang na gusto nila maging part din sila ng gang, ngayon, anytime anywhere mapapanood mo siya.

Empoy: Nakakatuwa, sa Prime kasi magbabayad ka lang ng buo na monthly, buong pamilya mo makakapanood na.

Sigrid: Siguro sa akin, kasi tinatanung iyong pressure about this movie, iba lang sa akin as a writer and director, lalo na iyong previous film na Kita Kita, because to be honest it was really big pressure on me, that is why it was very difficult for me to decide if  I'm gonna do another Alempoy film, because for me talaga, I can never top Kita Kita. It's an awakening sa akin and reflect if I gonna do another Alempoy film and if I am gonna do another Alempoy film, I have to embrace the success of Kita Kita and not to be pressurred of topping this film, for me, its more on just to tell a good story. Kaya it took me two years na makapag isip ng maganda kuwento for them and I want to show their talents as actors din, dito mas level up na ang acting nila at chinallenge ko talaga sila as an actors.

How did you know na ito na talaga ang perfect follow up for Alempoy?

Sigrid: It was very difficult process for me talaga lalo na thinking of new story, considering the success of Kita Kita, definitely icocompare siya. So there are homage scenes to Kita Kita, there are still feels of Kita Kita but its different pero I have to embrace it eh na I can never top Kita Kita, I just want to focus on telling a good story about love and taking risks.

Alex: Well its written and directed by Sigrid. May iba kasi nag offer after Kita Kita pero hindi ko na feel na iyon ang perfect follow up pero for this, ayun tama naman si Sigrid na you can not beat Kita Kita, ako nga sabi ko, ang Kita Kita, magic iyon eh, so wala naman na papantay sa magic, napaka ungrateful naman kung gusto mo pa ng mas bongga pa doon, pero kung magiging mas bonnga ito aba e di, congratulations!, ganun ka naman dapat mag isip.

For director Sigrid, gaano ka level up iyong dalawa?

Sigrid: Well nagworkshop lang naman sila sa BAFTA nominee, Dolly De Leon, I think level up iyon.

Empoy: Well ako naman ang acting coach ni Ms. Dolly kaya siya nanominate, palitan lang.

Sigrid: Gusto ko ichallenge sila kung ano ang capacity nila as an actors. Ofcourse, kilala ko naman si Alex kung ano ang capacity niya, always drama naman iyong ginagawa ni Alex, sa personal sobrang funny niya, pero iba pa rin sa screen if she can pull it off, so I'm very happy na napull off niya iyon and si Empoy naman sa drama naman

Alex: Napull off niya direk?

Sigrid: 10,000 takes nga di ba

Alex: Muntik na nga siyang mag resign eh

Empoy: Tabi kami lagi matulog

Empoy: Actually pag-uwi ko ng Pilipinas, napapanaginipan ko pa din siya

Empoy: In 10 days, lagi kami sabay kumain then nagrereading kami then sasabihin ko, Ms. Dols knock knock

Alex: Nagrereading na sila, pero hindi pa rin niya memorize, napepressure na si Ms. Dolly

Alex: Nakakainis iyon kasi nahurt na nga si Ms. Dolly kasi , paulet ulet paulet ulet, sabi ni Ms. Dolly, habang hawak hawak niya iyong tubig at cellphone ni Empoy, ano ba ko dito, yaya mo or acting coach mo, di ka naman nakikinig sa akin, 

Alex: ayan na nagagalit na, then sabi ni Empoy, Knock Knock...
