Movie Review: Unexpectedly Yours

Two former high school friends Patty (Sharon Cuneta) and Cocoy (Robin Padilla) find each other unexpectedly 30 years later, not only as organizers of their high school reunion, but also as new neighbors.

Patty and her daughter Yanni's (Julia Barretto) quiet lives then get an unexpected shake-up when love—in the form of Cocoy and his nephew Jason (Joshua Garcia)—comes knocking on their door

Unexpectedly Yours is a totally fun and kilig film. Sharon and Robin still have their chemistry that does not feel forced or awkward for their age. JoshLia love team add a the kilig feels on the film giving us a breath of the fresh air on their partnership. The movie is more of a Sharon Robin but Joshua Garcia and Julia Baretto provided an important aspect to the roles of Sharon and Robin to bring out their worth in the film. Joshua Garcia has prove in this film that aside from his charm he is really a great actor as he delivers smooth comedic timing that make the audience laugh out loud. He has a strong screen presence and has a likeable appeal by many. Julia Baretto embraces her character and act accordingly.

The film tackles on how to live life in a mid life crisis and how to reach out with younger generation like millennials to have a better relationship. A good film to watch by a parent and a child for them to understand each oher. Actually there are many life learning in the film especially about family relationships, knowing your worth as individual and learning  to voice out yourself. I love the ending of the film which is decent dance number placed naturally, choreographed smoothly and captured creatively.

Overall Unexpectedly Yours is absolutely charming suitable for the whole family and touches both the Gen X and millennial generation.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
