Jameson Blake and Enchong Dee Star In A Gory Bloody Horror Film - Nay - Cinema One Originals Film Festival 2017 Entry

Fresh off the success of “Bar Boys,” Kip Oebanda diretcs the aswang inversion “Nay,” a film about a man suffering from a terminal disease who uncovers a dark family secret. Enchong Dee says that he was exited when he initially got the offer of doing this film as he was advise by Direk Kip that one of the vision of the film is to cater the audience a bloody horror local film that we do not usually see. While Jameson said that this film requires him to be more vulnerable in emotion as they are only three leads in the cast, they have to show emotions that will transcend to the audience.

Watch as Enchong Dee, Jameson Blake and Sylvia Sanchez share their no fear challenge and experience filming this bloody horror film, Nay.

Cinema One Originals 2017 runs from Nov 13-21 2017 at Trinoma, Glorietta, Gateway, UP Cine Adarna, Cinema 76 & Cinematheque w/ extended run at Power Plant Mall from Nov 22-28.

Kip Oebanda says “Nay” is not your ordinary aswang movie

By Archie Liao

It’s my favorite genre,” pakli nya.

“Lately, a lot of horror films that we have are ‘gulat’ or normally a series of deaths or there are a lot of shocks. This one is almost a throwback to the older horror films in the sense that it has a lot of gruesome visuals and the tension. I don’t use or barely use, if any, CGIs in the film so puro siya practical effects. I tried to limit myself to the tools that are available to me as a filmmaker,” aniya.

“Fearless siya in its pananakot. It reflects a lot of my thoughts about Philippine society. In the US kasi and to some extent sa atin, horror films have been used  to talk about the fears and paranoia that exist in a society. It’s a good tool to talk about the issues and not to scare people,” paliwanag niya.
“The aswang is mythological character. I took some creative license. The specific aswang I researched was iyong sa Mindoro na pag dinidikit nila ang tenga nila sa floor o sa wall, naririnig nila lahat including people’s heartbeats,” kuwento niya.

Not just an ordinary aswang story, may puso rin daw ang kuwento ng pelikula.
“ Madugo siya, it’s very bloody pero iyong main character dito has a heart. It’s because iyong role niya is carrying a mother figure to Enchong’s character. In a way, being a yaya is a façade to hide the aswang. Kumbaga may nurturing yaya/mother iyong kanilang relationship.

(2 Cool 2 Be 4Gotten).
Ang “Nay” ay opisyal na kalahok sa 13th Cinemaone Originals na mapapanood sa Trinoma, Glorietta, Gateway, UP Cine Adarna, Cinema ’76 at Cinematheque Manila theatres mula Nobyembre 13-21 at sa Power Plant Mall mula Nobyembre  22-28.
