Movie Review: Once A Princess

Once upon a time, there was a princess who could not live happily ever after… Erin Almeda, one of the princesses of Gibbons International School belongs to a clique all-girl group whose members’ are considered as the most glamorous and richest of all. One day, Erin played with the innocent heart of their class geek, Leonard Jamieson. Seven years later, Erin and Leonard cross path once again. It seemed their roles have been reversed. At they meet again, it is Erin’s turn to feel the pain. And so Erin needed to find the magic that will lift that curse. Or she will die of heartache soon.

The comeback movie of my favorite love team Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee based on the best-selling book of Precious Heart Romance, Once A Princess. This is their first team in a serious film joining them is the new premiere actor of ABS CBN JC De Vera. Favorite ko ang dalawang ito dahil pareho silang mahusay umarte from the time na pinagsama sila sa Katorse up to Magkaribal ay sinusubaybayan ko sila. I even enjoy their first film together ang light romantic film na I Do. Iba yung chemistry ng 2 para sa akin madalang na iyong loveteam na may chemistry together at may ibubuga sa acting. They could be the next Johnloyd-Bea. That’s why I am happy na muli silang pinagsama sa pelikulang ito at hindi naman ako nabigo dahil andun pa rin ang chemistry ng 2. 

Nagustuhan ko ang pelikula at malinaw naman ang pagkakalalahad ng istorya. May mga idinagdag na elements from the book para maging mas up to date iyong story lalo na doon sa latter part. Magaling naman ang Star Cinema/Skylight sa pag develop ng mga story from book like what they did in She’s Dating The Gangster. Nagustuhan ko iyong pag adapt ng cinematography sa pinagdadaanan sa buhay ng bida na si Erich from a princess na steady lang yung camera at gumagamit ng dolly then nung naging poor si Erich naging free style na yung movement ng camera at naging shaky.
Hindi na bago iyong pinakatema ng story tungkol sa isang pagmamahalan na naudlot na nagkaroon ng pagkakataon sa kasalukuyan subalit hindi na maari dahil may asawa na ang isa sa kanila. Binigyan nina Erich at Enchong na bagong mukha ang ganitong tema at naalagaan naman ng husto ni Direk Laurice ang kabuuan ng pelikula kaya naging maganda ang kinalabasan ng pelikula. Good choice din ang theme song na Muli from Lani Misalucha dahil napakaemotional ng kanta na bagay na bagay sa movie. Acting wise Enchong is a natural actor same with Erich and I would also like to commend Erich for her heavy drama scenes in the film dahil ang lalim ng hugot niya at ang galing galing niya sa eksenang iyon. Maganda iyong story at naging realistic naman yung approach as much as possible. It’s a love story that gives us hope in a way that true love can wait at a right time. So if you’re a fan of Enrich and want to see their chemistry and acting prowess don’t miss this film.
