Movie Review: Edna

The movie Edna is a unique take about real and imagined fears of overseas Filipino workers, as characterized by Edna (Irma Adlawan). Staged in three parts- Oro (Edna’s arrival), Plata (Edna’s discovery) and Mata (Edna’s resolve)- the film attempts to walk the audience from a thrilling arrival to an astonishing departure.

Edna is the first directorial job of the award winning character actor Ronnie Lazaro. Ronnie Lazaro said  that the film is a product of collaboration, love for craft and friendship. So I can say na binigyan ng pelikulang itong ng ibang atake ang mga OFW story that we usually watch in a local film. This is not your usual OFW story na melo dramatic. It’s a good choice that they pick Irma Adlawan for the role as she effectively portrays the role at hindi talaga matatawaran ang husay niya sa pelikulang ito. I love the ending of the film but there’s more to expect after the ending credits of the film as it will give you the most realistic at maangas ne ending sa isang pelikula. I am touched after watching it. So if you want to watch a different kind of an OFW story you may catch this film on its commercial screening.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
