Movie Review: A Very Good Girl

After a heartless firing triggers a chain of unfortunate events, Philo plots a meticulous revenge against retail mogul, Mother Molly, aiming to dismantle her empire and seize the ultimate payback. This time, there is no mercy.

A Very Good Girl is remarkably a revenge drama Filipino film to watch with full twists of events that you never expect coming. Dolly De Leon nails her character well and Kathryn Bernardo delivers in her most challenging role in a film. It is a black comedy done with taste and with story that will also affect your heart. The acting showdown of the lead Kathryn and Dolly is to watch out and there is definitely a connection and chemistry between the two. The supporting cast are also noteworthy from Donna Cariaga to Chie Filomeno giving an entertaining and ensemble performance that completes the journey of the film. Filipina Vicencio has its moments making you believe in her character while Jake Ejercito is good as a newcomer and gives effectiveness in his role. So happy for Kathryn for taking up the challenge in doing an out of the box role that highlights her acting prowess. Dolly De Leon proves in this film that she is a versatile actress giving us a Merryl Streep performance from Devil Wears Prada. Overall A Very Good Girl is a refreshing upbeat dark comedy film that brings something new for the local Filipino films.

My Verdict: 4/5
