Deleter, an official entry to Metro Manila Film Festival 2022 is lead by the award winning actress Nadine Lustre and helmed by the young filmmaker Mikhail Red.
The film follows Lyra (Lustre), who works shifts at a shadowy online content moderation office where employees, known as deleters, are tasked with the process of filtering graphic uploads from reaching social media platforms. The responsibility of censorship proves bearable for Lyra, whom her co-workers, as well as her boss Simon, observe as a cold person unfazed by the disturbing imagery she sees on a daily basis. What they do not know is that Lyra hides a deep trauma. Lyra’s attempt to erase and forget her past has forced her to don an apathetic face to the horrors of the world.
On the grand presscon of the said film, Nadine said that this film challenge her a lot in terms of the complex of character that she is portraying.
"Hindi naman po marami iyong horror projects na nagawa ko before, this is the second one, pero iyong una kasi is cameo lang po, hindi nman ganoon kadami iyong mga eksena. Dito po kasi talagang na experience ko lahat, iyong mga eksena na when iyong climax na ng movie namin na ang dami nang nangyayari, so kailangan tense ka palagi, iyong katawan mo laging synched sa eksena. Sinabi ko nga kay direk mas nakapagod pala gumawa ng horror kaysa sa drama. So hindi ko rin siya ma compare with anything with other horror film ko before kasi nga di naman siya ganun kagrabe as compare dito.
When asked about imagining things while doing this horror film, Nadine said,
"To be honest for me, hindi naman ganun kahirap mag imagine, kahit noong pong mas bata ako, very imaginative po ako. so talagang aaralin mo lang po iyong eksena and sometimes then iniimagine mo sa ulo mo kung paano mo gagawin itong line or kung papano iyong actions mo ganun. I think it also helps na mahilig din po ako sa horror film so in a way meron din po akong mga reference. Mahilig po talaga ako kasi sa mga movies so meron po talaga akong reference. Pero mahirap talaga na mag imagine na may ka eksena ka, iyon ang pinakamahirap, kasi its all in your head, parang iyong eyes mo it doesn't really do much, kasi wala ka namang nakikita at all so maraming pong inner monologue, iyong po iyong technique ko in most of the scenes.
Joining Nadine in this film is Louise Delos Reyes, McCoy De Leon, and Jeffrey Hidalgo.
