Movie Review: An Inconvenient Love

Ayef is a minimum-wage earning convenience store worker who dreams of a better life as she pursues an application to become an animator in Singapore. Manny is a socially conscious entrepreneur, having set up a plant shop which goes against the desires of his rich and worker-abusive dad. Their paths cross, she resists but he continues pursuing her, and sparks fly. Wanting to make sure that a relationship with Manny would not go in the way of attaining her dreams, she suggests they get into a time-bound, contractual relationship, with a definite “expiration date” – a condition that Manny accepts. Little did they know how this casual, easy-sounding arrangement would bring them to the hardest, most heartbreaking test they must face in their young lives.

Definitely a good comeback movie for Star Cinema on the big screen. DonBelle is really the hottest love team of this generation as they have overflowing chemistry and look good together. An Inconvenient Love's treatment and storytelling is very new and refreshing. It has a subtle political undertone and is relatable with the current events. Donny Pangilinan shines in this film that gives depth to his character as the optimistic and hopeless romantic young rich kid. Belle Mariano on the other hand reciprocated as the strong and modern young woman that fights for her dream. Both of them are really promising and deliver well in this film. JC Alcantara is also a scene stealer that will surely touch your heart when you watch him. The supporting cast are also noteworthy from Jeffrey Quizon, Matet De Leon and Tirso Cruz III that are all tailor made to their character. You will cry out loud, kilig overload and roller coaster of emotions while watching this. An Inconvenient Love is an updated romantic comedy that stars the most promising loveteam that we have right now.

My Verdict: 4/5
