The teaser of the comeback film of Ms. Charo Santos - Concio, Ang Babaeng Humayo has been released. Helmed by the direction of Lav Diaz the film is included in the Main Competition section of the 73rd Venice Film Festival that runs from August 31 - September 10.
The film was inspired by "God Sees the Truth, But Waits," a short story
by Russian author Leo Tolstoy about a man sent to prison for a murder he
did not commit. It was entirely shot in Calapan, Mindoro -- the
hometown of Santos.
The short, black and white clip follows Horacia Santos, a woman
imprisoned for 30 years, only to be released after someone else
confesses to her crime. She soon finds out that her husband had long
passed away, her son is missing, and that a former lover had set her up
to be jailed.
Produced by Sine Olivia and Cinema One Originals, "Ang Babaeng Humayo"
also stars John Lloyd Cruz, Michael de Mesa, Shamaine
Centenera-Buencamino, Nonie Buencamino, Marj Lorico, Mayen Estanero,
Romelyn Sale, Lao Rodriguez, Jean Judith Javier, Mae Paner and Kakai
Bautista.
