Movie Review: Laut

Laut grace its world premiere on the opening night of Singkwento International Film Festival 2016. The film narrates the travails of a Badjao community living in a resettlement area in Pampanga. The story is about Nadia (Barbie) of Sama d’Laut who believes in getting married to the man she loves but because they are governed by culture and tradition they cannot just follow what they believe in. She has to leave her beloved when things get tough in Zamboanga. She lands in Mabalacat to embrace a new life.

Laut is heartwarming and an eye-opener at the same time. It is an average advocacy film that should be watch by Filipinos. Barbie Forteza delivers well in this film and proves her versatility as an actress. Most of the scenes work to make you cry inside and delivers the message it wants to tell. Aside from Barbie's performance, the  most compelling thing here is the story that need to be told.

My Verdict: 3/5
