Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio, through the invitation of the International Institute of Communications (IIC), led the Philippine delegation at the Annual Asia Digital Communications and Media Forum 2025 held February 11-12 in Seoul, South Korea.
Alongside Sotto-Antonio were Board Members Maria Carmen Musngi, Katrina Angela Ebarle and Legal Affairs Division Chief, Anna Farinah Mindalano.
The gathering brought together regulators, policymakers and leaders from the industry to engage in meaningful discussions on the ever-evolving digital media landscape.
“As a regulatory body mandated by law to give age-appropriate classification to films and television content in the Philippines, we recognize the urgent need to adapt to the rapidly changing media landscape,” said Sotto-Antonio, emphasizing as well the importance to learn from co-regulators globally and to enhance international cooperation.
The MTRCB participation underscores the continuous commitment of the Agency to ensure a safe, inclusive and responsible media consumption and environment for Filipino families especially the children.
Sotto-Antonio has emphasized in the gathering:
- Information dissemination campaign in partnership with the IIC and stakeholders to promote “Responsableng Panonood” (Responsible Viewing) in the Filipino household.
- Strengthening industry collaboration especially with content creators and film producers to undergo compliance workshops to boost Filipino family-friendly contents.
- Possible collaboration with the IIC in terms of best practices in regulation, content moderation and age classification.
“To our stakeholders, rest assured that the Board commits to develop policies that promote responsible viewing and creation to protect our viewers especially the children from harmful contents,” said Sotto-Antonio.
