Viva Films presents In Thy Name, a drama religion film on faith, sacrifices and miracle. It is lead by McCoy De Leon as we watched and regularly seen in the country’s top primetime series FPJ's Batang Quiapo. He is known by many for his role as David, the vengeful half-brother-turned-enemy of lead character Tanggol (played by Coco Martin), which he has been playing for the past two years.
In the upcoming film "In Thy Name," McCoy De Leon transforms from his notorious role as David in "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" to a more noble character, portraying Fr. Rhoel Gallardo, a Claretian missionary who was kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf in 2000. The film is inspired by the story of the martyrdom of Fr. Rhoel Gallardo, a Claretian missionary who served in Basilan, Mindanao and was kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf in 2000.
In the media conference of the film held last February 6, 2025, whole cast were presented and talk about their respected roles and the affect of portraying their characters in their relationship to God.
