As the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) embarks on its 40th year, the Board renews its pledge to uphold its mandate of protecting Filipino audiences, especially children, through responsible media regulation and unwavering support for the creative industry.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio expressed the Board’s dedication to fostering a culture of informed and responsible media consumption, emphasizing its crucial role in nation-building.
“This 2025, the MTRCB remains steadfast in its mission to promote responsible viewing and safeguard Filipino families,” Chair Sotto-Antonio said. “We also reaffirm our commitment to supporting the Philippine creative industry by ensuring age-appropriate classifications and fostering partnerships that elevate Filipino content on a global stage.”
The Board aims to further strengthen its collaboration with local and international stakeholders, including filmmakers, television networks, streaming platforms, and regulatory counterparts.
By working hand-in-hand, the Board seeks to address evolving challenges in media regulation while nurturing creativity and innovation in the industry.
Sotto-Antonio also emphasized the continuous implementation of its flagship “Responsableng Panonood” (Responsible Viewing) campaign which aims to educate Filipino families on the importance of choosing age-appropriate content.
“In 2024, we reached various communities, private institutions, and local governments nationwide through seminars and media partnerships, and the MTRCB plans to amplify this impact in the coming year,” said Sotto-Antonio.
As the media landscape rapidly evolves with digital platforms and emerging technologies, the MTRCB also vows to adopt innovative approaches to regulation. The agency is committed to upholding Filipino cultural values while ensuring that new content platforms align with its standards for audience protection.
