The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) unveiled on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 its Data Privacy Management Program and held its first data privacy training session.
The program aimed to identify and protect all personal data collected, processed, and stored by the agency in line with the Data Privacy Act.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio highlighted the need for the agency to develop and implement robust privacy policies, and ensure that the MTRCB can effectively manage personal data security incidents and breaches.
“As an agency tasked with safeguarding Filipino families, especially the children, through responsible viewing, we must also ensure the security and integrity of the data we handle in our operations, including sensitive information,” Chairperson Sotto-Antonio said in her opening remarks.
She emphasized the importance of data privacy in today’s digital age, stating that protecting data is not just a responsibility but a commitment.
“Through this program, we aim to identify all personal data collected, processed, and stored by the MTRCB, ensuring full compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012. This initiative allows us to develop and implement robust policies and procedures to address the challenges of privacy regulation and enable us in public service to manage personal data security effectively.”
Sotto-Antonio also highlighted the agency's efforts to empower its workforce. The training session provided MTRCB employees with practical knowledge and tools to ensure compliance with privacy regulations, emphasizing the role of each team member in protecting sensitive data.
As
