Movie Review: Exes Baggage

After a chance encounter, PIA (Angelica Panganiban) and NIX (Carlo Aquino) instantly hit it off. Natural conversations eventually develop into deep attraction. Despite their wounds from previous relationships, both decide to take a chance on each other.

Exes Baggage works well with the perfect chemistry of Angelica Panganiban and Carlo Aquino, engaging screenplay and fine direction of Dan Villegas.  It got it feels, heart and laugh in equal measure. Exes Baggage is a well told relationship movie with relevant issues that anyone in a relationship status can relate to. Most of the laughs in the film focus on the craziness of Angelica & Carlo’s character as well as with its witty situation. Angelica Panganiban shines on her natural performance in this film that you can feel the rawness of her emotion whether in drama and light scenes. Carlo Aquino reciprocates his acting well with Angelica making most of their scenes worked effectively. I just enjoyed watching the film with its script that was skillfully written then placed in the right hands. Plus good factor of the film is its catchy soundtrack and theme song that parallels the feels of the movie. I can say that Exes Baggage is one of the best local romantic comedy this year. A different and unique version of a rom-com that comes quite refreshing.

My Verdict: 4.5/5
