Five Breakups and a Romance is a
romance-drama film about two opposite individuals who pursued a
relationship after a summer fling in Singapore, only to find themselves
in a series of break-ups.
The story of Lance (Alden) and Justine (Julia) in the film spanned eight
years, and their romance began in 2016. In that long amount of time,
the screen couple has shown different facets of a relationship, along
with the struggles along the way.
Five Breakups and a Romance is a deeply affecting romantic film that will leave you crying after watching. A touching and subtle film on relationship with believable performances by Julia Montes and Alden Richards. A clever storytelling and well thought screenplay for a Filipino romance film. Kudos to the film for giving unconventional storytelling yet you will feel the emotion, the journey and the bittersweet heartbreak story of the two leads. Julia Montes proves in this film that she is really a dependable actress that we have and can justify any role given to her. You can feel the love, joy and pain towards the journey in the film. Alden Richards reciprocated on the other hand justifying his role as a leading man that will make you kilig, root for him and fall in love with him. The editing and musical scoring are well plotted and seamlessly integrated to the totality of the film. The soundtrack is a bonus with its theme song Leaves that suit the emotion of the film. So if you want to watch a quality romance drama film, this film is highly recommended.
