Movie Review: Verdict

Abused and battered wife, Joy, stands up for justice against her alcoholic husband, Dante, in a turmoil process of the justice system.  After she is severely beaten by her abusive husband, a woman decides to take him to court and seek justice and what follows is an excruciatingly matter-of-fact look into the justice system in the Philippines as experienced by both sides.

Verdict know its story well and the message that it would like to give to the audience. With its consistent direction, editing, hand shake cinematography and acting of the actors, this is another relevant film that deserves to be seen. It gives us the real glimpse of the justice system in the Philippines by giving us the a docu style day to day hearing of a case about domestic violence. It felts so real and the cinematography, dialogue and treatment that they did in the film is like the audience was part of the film inside the scene itself witnessing everything. The film  immerses you with its story, will test your patience, frustrate you and will really affect you on how justice system works in the Philippines. Max Eigenmann & Kristoffer King were truly an acting gem in this film. The use of non-actors who portrayed as lawyers worked for me and the two also deserves an acting nod for this film. So if you want to watch a quality pinoy social commentary film for 2019, this is definitely a must see!
