Movie Review: Open

Rome and Ethan, a couple who have been together for 14 years. He is the love of her life, and she is his number one supporter. They are each other's firsts and to their friends, they are the perfect couple. When the two begin to feel that their relationship has gone tale, they explore the idea of going open. It's something Ethan wants to do, and it's the only way Rome feels she can keep her man. They agree that they are allowed to have sex with strangers, but they are not allowed to fall in love. In a relationship built over time, the two begin to 'explore' expecting to salvage the exact same thing they are giving up.

Open is a modern heart wrenching love story that  most of the people in relationship can relate to and will definitely got affected watching this. With the excellent performance of its lead JC Santos and Arci Muñoz that do not rely on hugot dialogue to convey emotions but they've been able to portray their role naturally and effectively. Open is a realistic romance film with  sub stories of both lead characters that are so creatively told, and frankly honors some very real diverse situations some people find themselves in. The supporting cast from Vance Larena, Ina Raymundo, Ivana Alawi up to Micah Muñoz definitely help add layers to the story. I love the ending that was almost realistic when it comes to how people are and should be. I like the conclusion of the film that love is still there between the two characters but it is very important to love yourself first and redeem yourself in a relationship that will not help you grow as a person.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
