The film features an impressive cast led by Dina Bonnevie, Snooky Serna, Elizabeth Oropesa, Lotlot de Leon, Lloyd Samartino, Ricardo Cepeda, and Perla Bautista, alongside promising young artists Diego Gutierrez, Damian Efergan, Franchezca Albo, Jayson David, and Yvonne Asher.
40 Days begins with the mysterious death of family matriarch Dolores Castro (Perla Bautista), who has been suffering from dementia. She leaves behind her children—Rita (Dina Bonnevie), Theresa (Elizabeth Oropesa), and Luna (Lotlot de Leon)—along with a deteriorating ancestral home filled with deception and unresolved family resentment. What starts as the traditional Filipino 40-day mourning period gradually turns into suspicion and a search for answers as long-buried family secrets begin to surface.
Written by Jessie Villabrille, 40 Days is produced by LVD Management Corp.
Jayson David embraces a challenging role
In 40 Days, Jayson David plays the son of Lotlot de Leon, portraying a young man with autism. For the rising actor, the role became one of the biggest challenges of his career, especially since he was working alongside some of the country's most respected veteran actors.
During our pocket interview, Jayson shared that the entire cast made him feel welcome throughout the production. He particularly recalled an emotional scene with Dina Bonnevie, where he became so immersed in his performance that he couldn't stop crying. To help him regain focus and calm down, the veteran actress gently shook him while staying in character—a moment he said showed the guidance and support he received from his co-stars.
Jayson first gained attention after his appearance in Esnyr's viral YouTube movie First Day High, which introduced him to a wider audience. The project also sparked rumors linking him to Esnyr, but Jayson clarified that they are simply special friends and that Esnyr is someone who always brings happiness into his life.
His dream of becoming an actor started at a young age. He shared that Coco Martin became one of his biggest inspirations after watching Ang Probinsyano. Before entering showbiz, Jayson also joined several local pageants in the Philippines, and today he continues pursuing his passion for acting.
Yvonne Asher looks up to veteran actresses
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Yvonne Asher plays Jayson's nurse in 40 Days. Like her co-star, she expressed gratitude for the warm support she received from the veteran cast and said every shooting day became a valuable learning experience.
Yvonne revealed that Bea Alonzo and Angel Locsin are her biggest showbiz idols. Aside from admiring their acting skills, she also looks up to the way both actresses have carried themselves throughout their careers and stood by their principles.
When asked about Jayson David, Yvonne admitted that she has a crush on her co-star. She described him as kind, gentlemanly, and caring on set—qualities she considers important in someone she would see as boyfriend material.
