Well based from the synopsis of the movie, It talks about the colonial illusion of an albino who believes that he is a son of an American. Shot in black and white, “Anak Araw” is a tragic colonialism love story that springs from the search of a local albino for his identity in an imagined past of Taal Lake. He believes that he is a son of an American, thus he tries to learn English through reading translations and definitions from a Tagalog-English dictionary. He lives amidst a town facing exodus due to precarious events such as appearances of sharks and unexplained explosions and deaths. Upon watching the movie
I am not that sure kung mahina lang talaga pick up ko or masyadong malalim yung movie kasi the way it was presented on the movie ay hinde literal na kung ano yung sinabi sa synopsis. So another movie na naman here in Cinema One Originals na may pagkaexperimental yung dating , though magaganda yung mga shot and no wonder this win as Best Cinematography kasi may mga scene or clip doon na nagawa nilang palumain na nagmukha siyang vintage. Pero yun nga for me hindi maayos na nailahad ang story at napakahirap for an ordinary viewer na intindihin yung vision ng director in his movie. Though maraming mga nakakatawang scene na weird na parang nanood ako ng old movies pero di ko naintindihan yung movie. Film was shot entirely in black and white then almost walang dialogue parang siyang silent film. Then I remembered yung first scene sa movie was based from the short film na "Class Picture" so Im not sure kung this is the sequel nung short film. So if you would want to watch a different kind of film and try to analyze and think deeply while wacthing a movie you may try to watch this.
My Verdict: 2/5
