The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has given an R-16 rating to Silenced Nights, an upcoming motion picture by acclaimed filmmaker Law Fajardo.
A suspense piece, Silenced Nights is set for release in theaters nationwide on September 16.
It boasts of an ensemble cast featuring Lotlot de Leon, Ina Feleo, and MTRCB member and lawyer Nico Antonio.
It also features Tanya Gomez, Joel Saracho, Dylan Ray Talon, Mario Magallona, Rom Factolerin, Aquisha Tombiga, and Jorrybell Agoto.
Silenced Nights has the intriguing tagline, “Where fear prevails, justice is silenced.”
According to the MTRCB website, the film includes themes related to extrajudicial killings (EJKs) and other issues.
It also contains “graphic but non-gratuitous depiction of violence and gore, language, non-gratuitous depiction of drugs or their use” that may not be suitable for viewers below 16 years old.
The upcoming motion picture is written by Troy Espiritu and produced by Patricia Sumagui and Ferdy Lapuz.
It is produced by Quantum Films, Inc. and by House on Fire International (Taiwan) and House on Fire (France).
In a statement, MTRCB Chair and CEO Lala Sotto urged the public to lend their support for the upcoming film, which recently finished post-production.
Silenced Nights’ R-16 rating means that it is appropriate for audiences aged 16 and older.
“Pinapaalahanan namin ang mga magulang at guardian na alalahanin ang mga rating ng MTRCB sa pagpili ng mga content na angkop panoorin ng mga miyembro ng ating mga pamilya base sa kanilang edad at lebel ng pang-unawa,” Sotto said.
“Bahagi ng Responsableng Panonood ang paggabay sa ating mga anak sa content na kanilang pinapanood at pagpaliwanag sa kanila ng mga isyu sa paraan na maiintindihan nila,” she added.
