Movie Review: Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital

This horror film is about a team of adventurous celebrities who are invited to explore and film in Taiwan’s infamous Xinglin Hospital, one of the most haunted locations in Southeast Asia. What was thought to be a unique opportunity for an adventurous and cutting edge production quickly spirals into a horrifying ordeal – escalating to horrifying levels as the celebrities face paranormal phenomena in every halls, room, and floors reek presence that makes every inch of their bodies want to scream and escape. As tensions rise, the group became fragmented because of their strong personalities, conflicting motivations and they became pawns of a malevolent entity. The celebrities need to make difficult choices and sacrifices to survive their journey in the haunted hospital.

Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital successfully blends meta-horror and vlogging, immersing viewers in a chilling environment filled with raw jump scares that will keep you on the edge of your seats. The film’s natural eerie atmosphere enhances its effectiveness, creating a compelling experience that not only entertains but also unnerves, making this a worth watching on the big screen! Enrique Gil delivers as the leader of the group that controls everything. Jane De Leon truly shines with her relatable fear that will make you root for her character in this film. Alexa Miro will make you hate for her  antagonistic choices that evoke frustration in this film. Lastly Raf Pineda serves as the color of the film that will make you laugh in the midst of tension. Overall, All of the characters are well-rounded and engaging making this film interesting to watch all throughout. The vlogging style that was used in the treatment and storytelling in a horror genre works in this film as it feels that you are part of the harrowing journey while watching.  If you are up for a thrilling adventure and shout out fest together with your barkada, this film is a good choice.

My Verdict: 4/5
