Movie Review: Maid in Malacañang

Maid in Malacañang is a family dramedy film that gives us a glimpse of the last 72 hours of the Marcoses inside the Palace before fleeing to Hawaii during the 1986 People Power Revolution - a story shared through the eyes of a “reliable source.”

The film will show us the lighter and more carefree side of the First Family, that until now has never been shared with anyone. It will also introduce characters and storylines that make the First Family more relatable and normal like other Filipino households with close family ties. It is the quintessential Filipino family sticking together braving all odds.

Maid in Malacañang is a family comedy drama that will surely touch your heart after watching. It boasts performance from the ensemble cast and it's good cinematography and camera movement that captures the emotion of the characters in the scenes. Cristine Reyes stands out with her subject to detail portrayal as Imee Marcos. Christine once again showcases her acting prowess for this film, giving it all to give justice to her character. Cesar Montano on the other hand gives justice to another iconic role which you felt the sincerity of his performance. Ella Cruz and Diego Loyzaga have their special moments showing the depth and heart of their character. Ruffa shines on her subtle approach to her character. Karla, Beverly & Elizabeth bring balance to the film giving the comic relief. This film will make you cry and laugh out loud at the same time. So if you want to see the other side of story of the Marcos family, you may give a chance to see the Maid in Malacañang.
