Movie Review: Persons of Interest

A man with two personalities: one is a blind cook accused of mass poisoning that killed his older lover, and the other is the imaginary friend of his six-year-old son who is smart and jolly—his exact opposite.

Persons of Interest boasts of its cleverly written narrative with its  refreshing take on a mystery based story-telling. It pulls you into the story and keeps you on your toes guessing. The controlled performance of the cast from Liza Lorena , Allen Dizon, Dimples Romana up to the child actor Ynigo Belen are noteworthy. Allen Dizon is best in his scene with his son Ynigo which you truly felt a longing love of a father to his son. While Dimples Romana's consistent performance as a daughter protesting the love of her mother to a younger man for me deserves an acting nod for this festival. Her courtroom scene was really such a solid acting gem. The combination of magic realism, tight editing and non-linear story-telling mounted on this film are  a challenging task to accomplish that somehow decently crafted in this interesting and worth seeing Sinag Maynila 2019 entry.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
