Two ex-lovers who reunited, only to find themselves separated again when
one of them gets embroiled in human trafficking and illegal drug trade. Rhian Ramos is Lara, a dreamer from the province who unfortunately lands in jail in Manila after a series of unfortunate events. Aside from what she faces, her heart is torn between her childhood sweetheart and fiancé Joseph (JC de Vera), a musician who left behind his band’s overseas posting to marry Lara. Tom Rodriguez is Edwin, Lara's lovestruck lawyer.
Huwag
Mo 'Kong Iwan is an old soul romance drama that will surely captivate
your heart. The film is relevant and timely in tackling social issues on illegal recruiters and policies
on enforcement in handling drug related cases. The three lead actors,
Rhian, JC and Tom, justify their role well as every individual fighting
for their dreams and love of their life. It is evidently seen that Rhian
and JC still have chemistry together while Tom is one of the leading men
that is still delightful to see on the big screen. Rhian as always is an
effective actress and will make you cry for all the ordeals she has in
this film. JC on the other hand will make you root for his character as a
loving partner to Rhian. The supporting cast are also notable and
effective from their acting from Pinky Amador, Emilio Garcia up to Rita
Avila and Nella Marie Dizon. Nella in particular shines as the supportive
friend of Rhian and this is her best performance to date. The theme
song of the film Huwag Mo Kong Iwan serves as the soul of the film that is properly utilized and placed in the film.
Overall Huwag Mo 'Kong Iwan is a Filipino romance drama with a lot of
twists that we miss to watch on the big screen and surely masses can
definitely relate and love to watch.
My Verdict: 3/5
