Movie Review: The Boy Foretold By The Stars

The Boy Foretold By The Stars is a romantic comedy movie about two senior high school boys, who thru the help of a fortune teller, find each other at an optional school retreat called Journey with the Lord.

The Boy Foretold By The Stars surprised me in a sense that I didn't expect so much on the film and I feel so saturated already with all the local Boys Love series online but it turns out that this film was  decently made, well laid and works to tell its beautiful story and message across the audience. The two leads act naturally and  a fresh of a breath air, seeing neophyte actors in an MMFF film. You can feel the emotions on each of the characters and will make you follow on their journey to fight for their love. The film will take you back on the time that you have your first love and let you experience the joy, kilig and the pain. What I also like on the film are the dialogues that feels entirely authentic and organic especially with Adrian where you can feel the conviction on the delivery of his lines then with Keann that just felt so natural. The rest of the ensemble gets to shine as well from Iyah Mina, Renshi De Guzman up to the theater actors Jemuel Satumba, Vic Robinson, Rissey Reyes and John Leynard Ramos and John Ray Escaño, the two gay actors playing as friends of Adrian that light up the film and I really enjoyed watching. Overall The Boy Foretold By The Stars is a simple film and small glimpse of the diverse stories of LGBTQ yet it succeeds with its emotion, heartfelt story and relevant message.

My Verdict: 4.5/5
