GagaOOLala and Noble Wolf presents a new BL series, Happenstance

Director Adolfo Alix Jr. first BL series, Happenstance, will premiere on December 25th on the streaming platform GagaOOLala. Kiko Ipapo and Jovani Manansala star as Wade and Jose Manuel, two people who magically meet although they are living in different periods - one in 1974, one in 2020. Jose Manuel is grounded after his military father (Alan Paule) learned of his relationship with Luis (Shu Calleja), an activist. Wade, on the other hand, is recovering from a recent break up with Eric (Saviour Ramos) and while on vacation is caught up in the quarantine because of the CoVid 19 pandemic. After the super moon, an opportunity opens for these two heartbroken souls to connect across time and find love once again.

True Love Happens Once in a Lifetime

Last week, the series’ official trailer was released on GagaOOLala’s official YouTube channel, revealing a BL series with a different flair featuring cinematic visuals and a complex storyline mixing fantastical and historical elements. The logline for the series, ‘true love happens once in a lifetime’, highlights the main theme of true love and its power to overcome any obstacles, even time. “What is going to be interesting is to see the audience reaction on how the two characters will interact and meet given their limitations,” teased director Adolfo.

He also explained that “asides from being a love story, the series will also deal with the issues relevant to both time periods and the comparison between the restrictions in the 70s and the quarantine in 2020.” He had recently revealed that the inspiration for Happenstance came from a local story covered in the news about a house owner finding love letters from the 70s during a house renovation and who tried to track down the sender almost five decades later.

Besides the four main actors Kiko Ipapo, Jovani Manansala, Shu Calleja and Saviour Ramos, the rest of the cast is composed of some of the best actors in Pinoy cinema including Bembol Roco, Rosanna Roces, Alan Paule, Erlinda Villalobos, Angeli Bayanim Ken Anderson, Miggy Campbell, Stephanie Sol. All episodes were written by Jerry B. Grácio and directed by Adolfo Alix Jr.

The series will consist of 9 episodes to be released weekly starting from December 25th, exclusively on the LGBTQ+ streaming platform GagaOOLala. GagaOOLala Announces GCash and KTX.ph Collaborations for New Pricing Options and Content Distribution.
