In this reimagining of Francisco V. Conching's classic Filipino comic book character, Pedro Penduko lives the life of a petty criminal after being orphaned and abandoned as a young boy. Unable to find his place in society, he embarks on a journey to his mother's homeland, Bag-ompala - a pocket dimension in which the inhabitants are ancient Filipino who, not only have preserved their traditional way of life, but have also maintained their perchant for the supernatural.

There, Penduko discovers nor only his vibrant heritage, but also the spiritual power that has remained dormant in him while living in the modern world. As Penduko hones his skills and makes a name for himself in his new found home, he finds a sense of belonging in a band of rebelling warriors seeking to avenge the massacre of Penduko's clan at the hands of an atrocious Datu.

Friends and enemies are made along the way both in the world of the living and the dead. In the end, Penduko learns that to find his place in society, he must help others, especially the oppressed, find theirs.
