Movie Review: Ang Mga Kaibigan Ni Mama Susan

Ang Mga Kaibigan Ni Mama Susan follows the journal entries of college student Galo, which touches on some frightening encounters and mysteries that seem inescapable. This marks the third Bob Ong work to get the page-to-screen treatment, following 2014’s “ABNKKBSNPLAko!?” and 2016’s “Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin.”

This film shines with its atmospheric horror feels that is consistent from start to finish. It has a lot of subtitle surprises that are as effective as the typical jump scare in a horror film. Joshua Garcia gives a sensible performance as it is very rare with male actors that will give an effective portrayal in a horror film. The child actors Jewel Milag and Ynigo Delen were equally good as Joshua giving outstanding portrayal and justifying the characters in the compelling book where the film is based. Angie Ferro is definitely a good choice as she will scare you and might visit you in your dreams. The production design is noteworthy for its attention to details and effective creepy feels. So if you are a fan of a different quiet atmospheric horror film, Ang Mga Kaibigan Ni Mama Susan is a good choice.

My Verdict: 4/5
