By Archie Liao

At 17, Sofi Fermazi is fast becoming a familiar face in tinseltown. A professional singer (and actress), she has done a lot of popular cover songs on YouTube. Her covers include songs popularized by acclaimed and award-winning international and local artists like Ed Sheraan, Cristina Perry, Coldsplay, Adele, Justine Bieber, Moira Dela Torre, Ben and Ben, Zack Tabudlo, Kitchie Nadal, Yeng Constantino, and more. Some would even say that her versions are at par with the versions of the original. Now, she is bent on making a name for herself in the local music industry. "Bata pa po kasi ako, hilig ko na pong kumanta.

I had my first composition also at 10," she enthuses. Although she has not joined any talent reality shows yet, she believes that her unbridled passion for music and unique musicality has already prepared her for the big time. "I used to join singing contests in school. Kumakanta Rin po ako sa church choir na isa po sa naging training ground," she shares."Right now, open din po ako to collaborate with my favorite artists," she adds. She also says that she is a proud alumnus of Vehnee Saturno Musical Training Center. She even cites Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo as one of her musical influences. She also confides that she's interested in joining showbiz. "Priority ko po ang singing but I am not closing doors to acting," she says. Given a chance, she would like to be paired with her crush Donny Pangilinan.

Sofi will be launching her album soon entitled “Rain Inside Us” to be released by Star Music. She has three songs in the said album, by which she will collaborate with various artists from ABS-CBN. The 17-year old singer who hails from Las Piñas City, will also be part of “Fun Nights Only,” a Kumu entertainment show streamed every Saturday night. Recently, the young lady did a solo production number at the 2022 Asia Pacific Luminare Awards (for celebrity awardees), held at Okada Manila. During the Presidential Campaign season, Sofi also sang the Tagalog version of “Hero” by Bonnie Tyler, a jingle song of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno who went viral online.
