Movie Review: A Girl and A Guy

A Girl and A Guy is a modern tale of young adults navigating the tricky world of relationships, connection, and intimacy in today’s society. The film tells the story of a girl, the story of a guy, and the story of a girl and a guy.

A Girl and A Guy will give its viewers an in-depth look at the dynamics at play in the messy and complicated yet still fun arena of love and dating through the perspective of Fiona, an ambitious advertising production staff who has big dreams in the field of filmmaking; and Raf, a charming and laid-back marketing associate who has no plans for his future.

A Girl and A Guy is an stylish upbeat romance sexy film that take us to the closer look of a girl and a guy in this generation. It is a relatable story of what happens when love and life happens. I appreciate the unconventional storytelling, the modern look and vibes of the film and the core story of the leads that makes me relate and cry out my heart. It's good to see once in a while a this kind of brave and not your typical Filipino romantic film. Though I just felt that the first half is kinda stretch and the second half is rushed but still they been able to deliver the message and their intention. Another good thing on this film are the fresh actors that they launch in the film that help to elevate the portrayal of the characters in the film as we have never seen them  before in another film and this make them own of the character they portray. Alexa Miro and Rob Gomez makes the film so seamless with their honest performance and both of them will definitely have a place in the film industry. The rest of the supporting cast from Candice Ramos, Rosh Barman, Pau Benitez, up to Chloe Reyes, Sarah Holmes, Shaun Salvador and Carlo Tarobal are definitely good in this film. I definitely love the setting of the film which they make look Baguio a modern city, romantic destination and take us what Baguio looks like now. The soundtrack of the film are solid wherein the selection of songs are placed right on track to enhance the emotion of the scenes. Overall, A Girl and A Guy is fresh and original unlike any other sappy rom-com of its genre.

My Verdict: 4/5
