This November, find out the secret ingredients to a healthy relationship in the film Recipe For Love, Regal Entertainment, Inc.’s, latest offering that stars multi-awarded actor Christian and Pinoy Big Brother Lucky 7 ex-housemate Cora Waddell.

It can be recalled that Christian garnered numerous awards because of his role as Barbs, the trans cross-dresser in the 2016 critically-acclaimed film Die Beautiful.

For the said role, Christian bagged the Best Support Actor trophy at the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival, Best Supporting actor award at the 40 th  Gawad Urian, and the Best Supporting Actor award at the 35 th  Film Academy of the Philippines Luna Awards.

Most recently, Christian was awarded the Best Main Actor at the 2018 Hanoi International Film Festival for his moving performance in the film Signal Rock.

Currently, Christian is also part of the most-talked about ABS-CBN prime-time teleserye Halik. He is also proud to be working with highly respected film directors. For his first major role on television, Christian worked with the late Maryo J. delos Reyes before he passed away in an episode of Magpakailanman.

He beams with pride to have worked with Direk Chito Rono for the critically-acclaimed film Signal Rock.

He feels lucky to work with Direk Jose Javier Reyes  for Recipe For Love.

“Ang sarap sa pakiramdam,” he said about working with these respected directors. “They will let me fly as an actor na hindi na work na ginagawa mo. “Para akong naglalaro na lang sa set kasi sobrang tiwala nila sa gagawin ko don sa character ko kung paano ko siya isasabuhay.”

He described his working relationship with Direk Joey in this movie as “collaborative.” He also takes pride about the lesson of the movie for viewers about relationships. “Bago mo suungin ang isang bagay dapat sigurado ka.
“Ngayon uso sa millennials magkulitan tayo, pakasal aagad, bubuo agad ng bata. “Mabilis masyadong mabilis ang decision-making ng millennials. Nakakapaso.

“Ang isang relasyon, ang kasal hindi yan kanin na pag isinubo pag napaso iluluwa mo. “Mahirap siya. Bago mo suungin ang isang relasyon, dapat sigurado kayo sa isat-isa,” Christian explained.

This time, Christian finally gets to top-bill in his own romantic comedy movie. Christian explained that comedy is close to his heart because he is naturally a comedian. “Hindi malayo sa akin. I must say yung sense of humor ko malakas din naman talaga. Mahilig akong magpatawa sa mga kapatid ko, sa mgakaibigan. “Hindi naman ako nangapa sa pagbitaw ng punchlines. It’s something that’s part of me,” he added.

To make his portrayal convincing, Christian said that he paralleled his personality with his character.

He explained that this helped him make his portrayal appear natural.  “Ang sarili kong process, ipa-parallel ko ang sarili sa character ko sa pelikula. Hinanapan ko ng common ground.

He said that he studied his character, and just like in any role that he portrays, Christian said that he gives his heart. “Nilagyan ko siya ng ng puso gaya sa lahat ng character na ginagawa ko, mapa-drama, mapa-comedy.”

Directed under the helm of the talented director Jose Javier Reyes, Recipe for Love explores how rich and colorful love is between two people. One minute it allows you to experience cloud nine and then it brings you to the pit of sorrow the next minute.

It shows us that love is not just one emotion but an experience of different feelings. Nonetheless, it is what makes the whole experience worthwhile.

Recipe For Love tells the story of Calix, the chef of an upscale Filipino restaurant, who crosses path with Val, a food blogger and aspiring magazine editor.

While Calix and Val start off on the wrong foot, they eventually hit it off and romance starts to brew. Eventually, just like the dishes that they cook and review, Calix and Val discover the different tastes of being in a relationship, such as its bitterness and sweetness.

But will they still be able to come up with the perfect recipe for love so that they will stay together?

Joining Christian Bables in the film are Cora Waddell, Myrtle Sarrosa, Sophie Albert, Enrico Cuenca, Agot Isidro, Bing Loyzaga and Ogie Diaz. Recipe For Love opens November 21 in cinemas.
