Movie Review: Unfriend

On Christmas Day, DAVID, 15, finds out that his boyfriend, JONATHAN, 17, has taken another lover. The discovery leads him on the brink of depression making him think of ways to have him back at all cost. He has invited Jonathan to see him on this day for the last time. And through the frenzy of his preparations prior to meeting Jonathan, we will discover his traits and personality;  the 'worlds' he lives in- virtual and real; and, we will witness how he prepares for his most unique shout-out that he will make not only in his Facebook wall, but, on his life.

A love story of two young men inspired by the true events happened in Pampanga. In which a young boy killed himself and his boyfriend inside the mall because of hatred and love. A crime of passion that was made it more sensational when the young boy posted his status on Facebook on what he feels hours before he commits the crime. A good material for a film and eye opener for us audience on what love can do to a young heart. Pinakanagustuhan ko sa pelikula is yung pagpapakita sa buhay pamilya ni David kung gaano siya ka close sa lola niya and the longing that he feels for her mother working in abroad. For me I felt emotional on that part of his life rather than on what he feels to his boyfriend. The lead actor Martin Sandino (David) is good in the film. Idagdag pa ang isang Boots Anson Roa na nakapabigay hustiya bilang mapagmahal na lola kay David. Big factor of the film also is the musical scoring that helps build up the emotion of the characters and climax of the film. I also like the cameo of Angeli Bayani that gave a strong existence in the film.

My Verdict: 3/5
