Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Steps, a new animated film that offers a fresh twist on the classic Cinderella fairytale, alongside the announcement of its companion soundtrack set for release on November 20, 2026.
Featuring the tagline “At midnight, we ride,” Steps reimagines the story of Cinderella’s stepsisters, exploring what happens when they step out of her shadow and embark on an unexpected adventure.
The film follows Lilith (Ali Wong), who steals the Fairy Godmother’s (Bette Midler) magic wand and disrupts the Royal Ball with her sister Margot (Stephanie Hsu). Their actions leave the kingdom vulnerable to Priscilla (Nikki Glaser), a scheming villain who seizes the throne. To save the kingdom, Lilith must team up with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried) on an epic quest filled with biker trolls, evil henchmen, and the mysterious Screaming Woods. Along the way, the sisters must also find a way to repair their relationship.
Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, the film features a voice cast that includes Daniel Radcliffe, Young Mazino, Peter Dinklage, Damian Priest, and other notable names.
Adding to the excitement, Steps (Soundtrack from the Netflix Film) will feature the new song “Someone to Hold” by BLACKPINK’s JENNIE. The soundtrack also includes four original songs written and produced by Grammy nominee Justin Tranter, with additional vocals by Academy Award nominee Amanda Seyfried, Rose Gray, and Emei. The original score is composed by Academy Award winner Kris Bowers, known for his work on Bridgerton.
Produced by Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell, and Kim Lessing under Paper Kite Productions, Steps joins Netflix’s growing lineup of animated films, bringing a new perspective to a familiar fairytale through adventure, comedy, music, and sisterhood.
Steps and its companion soundtrack will be available to stream on Netflix and music platforms, respectively, beginning November 20, 2026. Pre-Save Steps (Soundtrack from the Netflix Film) now HERE.
