Lee-young is hailed as the “Diva of the Diving World”, being a consistent gold medalist. Her best friend, Su-jin, is also doing well in this sport, but next to the swan-like Lee-young, Su-jin feels like an ugly duckling.
Willing to share the limelight with Su-jin, Lee-young changes her event to synchronized diving where she and Su-jin can compete together. While preparing for the Olympics selection practice, they are involved in a freak car accident. Su-jin disappears without a trace, while Lee-young loses her memory.
Diving cannot be erased from Lee-young’s nature, so she continues to work hard to keep her superstar status. Slowly, she starts to regain her memory, but the visions that flash through her mind and the things that she’s learning about Su-jin take her to the depths of fear and madness.
Playing the role of Lee-young is Shin Min-a, best known for My Love, My Bride (2014) and My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (2010), while Su-jin is portrayed by Lee Yoo-young, whose filmography includes The Soul-Mate (2018) and Marionette (2017).
Diva is Shin Min-a’s comeback movie after six years. Praises from critics and her nomination for Best Actress at the 2020 Blue Dragon Awards prove that her acting prowess has not diminished.
