Sila-Sila is essentially an LGBT ghost story, or more specifically an LGBT ghosting story, in which a young man whose breakups tend to be messy and have severe and traumatic repercussions finds himself not only confronting the people on the receiving end of those breakups but navigating feelings he had thought long gone but are now suddenly rekindled.
Sila-Sila succeeds on capturing a sincere and truthful glimpse of story of modern gay couple. The complex character study of Gio and Topper in the film was well established and integrated effectively to the narrative of the film. Gio draws his characters well presenting it as a complex individual with a story of its own. Topper complements on the other hand, with his subtle and lowkey performance. There's more depth and humanity here than you might expect in a film of this type and the ensemble acting are good all round especially with the scene stealer and entertaining performances by Dwein Baltazar, Phi Palmos and Adrienne Vergara.
My Verdict: 3.5/5
