Movie Review: Oda Sa Wala

Sonya, an old maid is about to give up on herself until one day, she meets a corpse in her family's embalming business that changes her life.

Oda Sa Wala is a is a risky, deadpan dramedy that effectively explores the nature of depression creatively. In this film Pokwang was given a chance to do some of the most integral, gentle and praiseworthy acting of her career. The seemingly simple story of solitude is a remarkable haunting depiction of loneliness whose aim is uncomfortably true. This voyage through the journey of Sonya is a close look on what a lonely person can do to survive in his or her everyday life. Overall it is a satire dark emotional film where we can reflect to after watching. Easily, one of the best Filipino film this year and worth watching in this year's QCinema International Film Festival.

My Verdict: 4.5/5
