The fourth season of Sinag Maynila Film Festival: Sine Lokal, Pang-Internasyonal successfully recognized the award-winning films at the Gabi ng Parangal held in Conrad Hotel, Pasay City. With the festival coming to a close, Sinag Maynila selects Passage of Life by Akio Fujimoto as its culminating film on March 15, 2018 at SM North EDSA The Block.
This full-length film debut by Fujimoto received tremendous recognition at the 30 th Tokyo International Film Festival as the Best Asian Future Film and also awarded as The Spirit of Asia by the Japan Foundation Asia Center.
The Passage of Life is based on a true story about the fate of a Burmese family seeking refugee status in Tokyo. With two sons who cannot speak Burmese and live like Japanese children, the parents are at odds with returning to Myanmar. Until one day, the family of four receives a letter that changes the rest of their lives.
