Attending the media conference of “Wonderful Nightmare” felt
like stepping into two stories at once: the making of Viva Films’
newest romantic comedy and a real-life love chapter unfolding in front
of everyone. Fresh from answering questions about the movie, real-life sweethearts Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles also opened up about their upcoming wedding, set to happen in March 2026—making the event extra special for fans who have long followed their journey as a couple.
Beyond the kilig updates, the two were generous in sharing pieces of their relationship that many couples can relate to—especially when it comes to the adjustments they’re ready to face once married. Their honesty brought warmth to the room, proving once again why Kim and Jerald remain one of the most grounded and endearing pairs in local showbiz. They also shared some unforgettable “nightmare” moments from their own careers—experiences that shaped them both personally and professionally, and ultimately strengthened their bond through the years.
When it came to the film itself, Jerald didn’t hesitate to highlight how much of a showcase “Wonderful Nightmare” is for Kim. According to him, this project leans heavily into Kim’s strengths, calling it more of a “Kim movie”—especially since she takes on a dual role that challenges her range as an actress. It’s the kind of part that demands both comedic timing and emotional depth, and from what was shared during the conference, audiences can expect Kim to deliver something more layered than the typical rom-com performance.
The cast also spoke about what makes this Philippine adaptation worth watching, and Jerald pointed out a key element that stands out strongly in their version: the social class divide. Compared to the original 2015 Korean film, he believes the adaptation makes the contrast between lifestyles even more visible—adding sharper commentary beneath the humor and heart.
Viva Films officially presents “Wonderful Nightmare,” a Filipino adaptation of the beloved Korean blockbuster hit about a career woman whose life takes an unexpected turn after a mysterious heavenly mistake.
Directed by RC delos Reyes, the film stars Kim Molina opposite Jerald Napoles in a fun-filled and emotional story that blends comedy, romance, and life lessons in one unforgettable ride.
Kim plays Atty. Ma. Luisa “Lui” Manuel, a successful and ruthless lawyer who is often perceived as cold-hearted. But behind her tough exterior is a woman who has spent years guarding herself from pain. Orphaned young and shaped by a series of unfortunate experiences, Lui vows to never live poorly again—and to never depend on love, men, or anyone else to survive.
However, her carefully controlled world comes crashing down after a car accident, leading her to wake up in heaven—only to find out her death wasn’t supposed to happen. The heavenly mistake must be corrected, and Lui is given one unusual solution: she must live as another woman for one month.
Back on earth, Lui wakes up in the body of a tired and haggard housewife—married to Julian Alcantara (Jerald Napoles) and raising two children: 14-year-old Jaja (Althea Ruedas) and 6-year-old Justin (Achilles Wenceslao). Suddenly, she finds herself living in a shabby apartment, trying to survive on Julian’s modest salary as a municipal employee—exactly the kind of life she spent her whole life avoiding.
As the days pass, Lui slowly adapts to her temporary life as a mother and wife. She finds Julian corny and annoying at first, but she can’t deny his sweetness and unwavering devotion. She also begins to appreciate Justin’s thoughtful nature, while struggling with Jaja’s rebellious teenage phase. Along the way, she forms new friendships with a lively and unforgettable group: Olga (Yumi Lacsamana), Sansan (Quinn Carillo), and Daisy (Divine Aucina)—each bringing humor, heart, and everyday survival energy to Lui’s unexpected journey.
What begins as a nightmare slowly transforms into something else entirely. As Lui experiences love, family, and simple happiness in ways she never allowed herself to dream of before, she discovers a painful truth: the life she once thought she would hate might actually be the most wonderful thing she’s ever had.
But time is running out—and soon, she may be forced to leave behind the one life that finally made her feel complete.
