MTRCB approves showing of 6 foreign films

THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has issued age-appropriate ratings for six films set to premiere this week, reaffirming its commitment to guiding Filipino audiences toward responsible viewing.

The Japanese animated film, “Crayon Shinchan The Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers,” was rated PG (Parental Guidance) for viewers below 13 years old when accompanied by a parent or guardian. The film features comedic and exaggerated scenes that are best appreciated with adult guidance.

Five other films were classified R-13 (Restricted–13) for viewers aged 13 and above due to themes, language, violence and horror elements that may not be appropriate for younger audiences.

The American horror, “Send Help,” (R-13) follows an employee and her boss who were stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash, and attempt to survive while tension rises between them.

Also rated R-13 is “Mercy,” an American science fiction action-thriller set in a futuristic Los Angeles where escalating crime leads the Mercy Capital Court to use AI (Artificial Intelligence) judges on trials for violent crimes.

The zombie horror, “We Bury the Dead,” (R-13) centers on a woman’s desperate search for her missing husband and follows her journey as she takes on grief and the undead.

Thai supernatural horror, “Death Whisperer 3,” (also known as “Tee Yod 3”) explores the origins of the Black Spirit and reveals the reason behind its deep-seated hatred toward humanity.

Completing the lineup is the British drama, “The Thing with Feathers,” (R-13) which tells the story of a father who tries to raise two young sons after the unexpected death of his wife.

Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto reminded parents and viewers of the importance of observing movie classifications.

“Movie ratings are there to help families make informed viewing choices. We encourage parents to guide their children and ensure that the content they watch is appropriate for their age,” said Sotto.
