Malditas in Maldives Showcases The Acting Prowess of Its Three Leads

 

The hilarious comedy, “Malditas in Maldives” stars the “Muse of Philippine Cinema,” Arci Muñoz, Kiray Celis, and Vivamax royalty Janelle Tee. Arci Muñoz steps up to become a producer in this project--as well as a creative director. In the film, three rival vloggers (Anais, Kimble, and Padma) are set to feature the atolls of Maldives when they find themselves in a time loop, where the days are always repeating itself.

Caught in this quirky predicament they try to find solutions on how to get out of the loop. Njel de Mesa’s Malditas in Maldives is Philippines official selection entry to the 2024 Jinseo Arigato International Film Festival in Nagoya Japan in which it bagged the following awards; Best International Filipino Actress for Arci Muñoz, Most  Versatile Comedienne award for Kiray Celis and Best International Director for Njel De Mesa.

We were invited to the test screening of the film and Malditas in Maldives is an entertaining laugh out loud film highlighting the strength of the three leads in comedic timing. The three lead characters are relatable and anyone can identify their struggles in life. Arci Muñoz as we all know as a versatile actress shines as a natural comedienne in this film. Kiray Celis as expected will make you drop at the edge of your seat for her comedy antics. She will make you laugh every 5 minutes in this film. And lastly, Janelle Tee is a revelation showing her light side in this film. The social commentary of the film on the life of influencers and  mainstream  stars is noteworthy as it is grounded to reality that is evidently shown from the dialogue of the film. This is a type of film that will give you a roller coaster of emotion, unpredictable and entertaining at the same time.

Malditas in Maldives will be submitted to Netflix once it is done with the polishing in post production.
