Movie Review: Marita

Marita, a deceased theater actress, is rumored to have taken her own life on stage out of jealousy. The university's theater group, Sinag Diwa, is being revived by Sandra, a new professor. Strange occurrences haunt the theater as they prepare for a play, and rumors of Marita's vengeful spirit emerge. As opening night approaches, terrifying incidents unfold. The group learns that Marita caused the theater's closure by taking lives. They seek help from a survivor of her attacks to confront and end her malevolent presence.

Marita is a scream fest to the fullest that has effective jump-scare of horror. The buildup of tension is on point with interesting storytelling that will hook you from start to finish. An effective horror film that will make you think while watching. The film is also a good launching vehicle for the new breed of actors showcasing their acting prowess. Louise Delos Reyes is good in this film together with Rhen Escaño that will make you chill on her character. So if you want to watch a typical horror film that works, Marita is a good choice.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
