Movie Review: U-Turn

Although she has been a journalist for 7 years, Donna (Kim Chui) wants to be taken seriously as reporter. After an opportunity arises when she sensationalized her reports, Donna's reports become viral. But she gets a taste of her own medicine when her twin brother, Eric, commits suicide and become subject to sensationalized reports.

Feeling guilty and knowing her twin could never kill himself, Donna proceeds to investigate Eric's death. With the help of her boyfriend Robin (Tony Labrusca) and police officer Kevin (JM De Guzman), she learns that all people who have died all moved the barrier of a blind curve and made an illegal U-Turn.

U-Turn is a fast paced well edited Filipino horror film that will definitely keep you at the edge of your seat. The film boast of its good cinematography and detailed shot that make this horror film pleasant to watch visually. I love how the film tackles not only about horror pertaining to spiritual entity but also its social commentary on sensationalized journalism  that may lead to manipulation to the truth of the story. Kim Chui just delivers the right amount of acting to convey the feeling of fear and eagerness to solve the mystery in U-Turn. Tony Labrusca is a good support to Kim as a loving boyfriend who is always there when needed. JM De Guzman stand out on his role with the depth and consistency that he show on his character as a policemen friend of Kim that help to solve the mystery in the U-Turn. Even the cameo of the new actor Royce Cabrera is notable and leave mark for this film. I enjoyed watching this horror film as you will be engage on how the story progress and complete the puzzle of the movie. U-Turn is a decent horror flick to watch in the comfort of your home.

My Verdict: 4/5
