Movie Review: Tres

Tres is socially relevant trilogy that features a variety of action movies and addresses the on going battle of the country against drugs while promoting positive values that champions self-worth. love for family and love for the country.

72 Hours centered on a select group of PNP and PDEA operatives who successfully arrested Sun Ing Koon -who is a drug syndicate leader from China. Marius Reyes (Jolo) and Alexa Almario (Rhian Ramos) were expected to bring down the said drug lord but less than 24 hours after his capture, Sun Ing Koon managed to escape.

Amats revolves around young man (Luigi Revilla) who hooks up with a gang of drug pushers and addicts as he is in denial of his current impoverished situation.

Virgo centered on PDEA undercover operative, Virgilio "Virgo" Semanes (Bryan Revilla) who together with his partner Tuck (Jess Mendoza) and controller senior agent Ferrero (Levy Ignacio), conduct hot operations on Chinese drug traffickers and local bosses.

Tres pays energetic homage to the classic local action film with an updated treatment and fast paced storytelling. The story is very current as it deals with person involved in drugs starting from the user, pusher, enforcer up to high rank officials. Virgo strength is its looks as it is a gritty, stylish and bloodbath action film with a twist that showcase the acting prowess of Bryan Revilla. Amats is the one standout for me and can go solo as a film. It has a detailed story anchored with modern storytelling that has a vibes of indie feels. Remarkable performance were given by Assunta De Rossi and Sandino Martin backed up with the newcomerLuigi Revilla that delivers well in his debut film. 72 Hours  feels like watching Ang Probinsyano in a big screen with the charming Jolo Revilla that got the looks and nuance of his father. 72 Hours is totally an action packed with comedic moments at the side. Each of the three episodes has something new to offer to the audience especially for the fans of the pinoy classic action film.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
