The new Deadpool installment makes box office history as the highest-grossing global opening for an R-rated film

The excitement and anticipation of Pinoy moviegoers was undeniable with cosplaying fans flocking to "Deadpool & Wolverine" activations to show their support for the film
 
The much-anticipated Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” has taken the world by storm, captivating audiences across the globe. Following its opening weekend, the film made an estimated $444.1 million globally, setting it as the highest-grossing global opening for an R-rated film in box office history. The movie’s trailer has also earned a Guinness World Record for being the most viewed movie trailer in 24 hours, amassing an unprecedented 365 million global views across all platforms from February 11-12.

Following the film's World Premiere in New York City, the excitement was palpable not just globally, but locally as well. Fans and critics have shown their enthusiasm for the new Deadpool installment in full force. Even before the movie opened, cosplayers dressed as Deadpool and Wolverine were seen aboard the “Deadpool & Wolverine”-themed bus, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere in the streets. Other exciting installations powered by Globe scattered around the metro such as a “Deadpool & Wolverine”-designed photo booth at Ayala Malls TriNoma and a “Deadpool & Wolverine” claw machine at SM North EDSA where moviegoers get a chance to win limited edition prizes such as friendship necklaces, stickers, and gold coins.

Early reviews and reactions from local critics and fans have been overwhelmingly positive, praising the film’s action sequences, humor, and the dynamic chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The pop culture references and typical fourth-wall-breaking antics of both Deadpool and Wolverine, along with the cameos of beloved and familiar superheroes, were likewise greatly received by the viewers.

As “Deadpool & Wolverine” continues to generate more buzz and positive feedback approaching its second week in theaters, fans are getting even more eager to witness the ultimate, iconic, cinematic team-up throwdown between these two legendary characters. Directed by Shawn Levy, the only Marvel movie to come out this year brings together the “best bubs” in a thrilling and action-packed film filled with humor and heart.
