Looks can be deceiving. Sweet talks can give false hopes. “Paupahan”, a Vivamax presentation starring 2022 MMFF Best Supporting Actress Nominee Tiffany Grey, Rob Guinto and Jiad Arroyo, takes you to a dark place where expectations are not met.
Tiffany Grey plays Analyn, a young landlady of an apartment building. For someone who looks so timid, this is a rather huge responsibility. Analyn is also the one taking care of her grandmother who owns the apartment and is suffering from dementia.
Jiad Arroyo plays Nico, a struggling commercial model. Taking advantage of Analyn’s timidity, he is able to rent the apartment at a lower price. He acts all charming around her, making her believe that he’s got feelings for her. Even when Analyn questions him about the different girls he brings to his apartment, Nico is able to convince her that they mean nothing to him.
While it’s easy for Nico to appease Analyn, something about his apartment is starting to concern him. He hears strange noises and feels like someone is watching him.
Meanwhile, Analyn finally realizes that Nico is just gaslighting her when a woman claiming to be his fiancé shows up. Katherine, played by Rob Guinto, and Nico have been in a long-distance relationship because she works abroad.
Reality hits Analyn hard, but she’s out to hit back harder.
Behind the walls of Nico’s apartment, Analyn is far from the innocent-looking girl that Nico knows. And wait ‘til she emerges from the shadows.
