Movie Review: Love You Long Time

After years and years of romantic comedies and love stories, we may have tru fucked up what it means to be in love. It has almost become something automati a routine or at least something already plotted out with predictable plot points.

And this is what his longtime girlfriend tells Eulogio Leonida that after six years o being together, their relationship has gone state and outrightly rejects his proposa of marriage. It has also affected her work as a romance screenwriter, and when they broke up, Eulogio had no say as Ikay (Eisel Serrano) decided to pack her bags an go to the province.

On the way to Baguio, Ikay mysteriously meets a new guy Uly (Carlo Aquir through and old push-to-talk phone. They immediately connect and beco friends. The two explore this friendship turning into love, but of course not with complications as Uly seems to be from the past.

Love You Long Time is a touching love story that will leave you crying capturing the beautiful landscape of Baguio & Atok. It is a different kind of romantic film that shows that love goes no boundary with regards to time. The movie does have the feel of watching a pocketbook romance novel turn into a big screen. Carlo Aquino and Eisel Serrano do have the right amount of chemistry and naturally portray their character. Eisel is promising and good as a beginner. Carlo Aquino is no question  a good leading man and gave a different portrayal here as an actor. Carlo proves in this film that he is a universal leading man and can be paired with anyone. The background of the film Baguio and Atok serves as the additional character of the film that also helps to deliver the smooth flow of the story. The soundtrack "Sa Susunod Na Habang Buhay" by Ben&Ben adds layers to the film adding deeper meaning to the story. The supporting cast Ana Abad Santos and Meanne Espinosa are good supporting characters of Eisel. So if you want to watch a recent well made Filipino love story, Love You Long Time is a good catch.

My Verdict: 4/5
