Movie Review: Paglaki Ko, Gusto Ko Maging Pornstar

Paglaki Ko, Gusto Kong Maging Pornstar (When I Grow Up, I Want to be a Pornstar)  brings together Alma Moreno, Ara Mina, Maui Taylor, and Rosanna Roces, muti-generational icons of bold  films in one hilariously, sexy film. It also features three young bombshells:  AJ Raval, Rose Van Ginkel, and Ana Jalandoni, who will sizzle on screen for the first time.

Paglaki Ko, Gusto Kong Maging Pornstar begins with a man’s dying wish that Philippine sex cinema will rise again just like in its glory days.  The man happens to be the founder of “bomba films”, and Ara Mina, who is like a daughter to him, promises to fulfil his wish.

Ara, Alma, Osang, and Maui, who are referred to in the movie as the “Four Relevant Women of Philippine Sex Cinema” band together to teach beautiful young girls, Sofia (Rose Van Ginkel), Agatha (Ana Jalandoni), and Twinkle (AJ Raval), the art of seduction and being sexy to mold  them into hot, desirable women that men will follow not only in cinemas but in every online platform and the privacy of their bedrooms.

In all fairness to this film, it is funny and somehow achieve the message it wants to tell. The four leads understand and justify their characters well. Rosanna is just a gem of being natural and extremely funny on this film. Alma is also brave for making fun of herself. Maui is such a cutie on this film. Ara's character feels awkward but I think it is naturally intended to be that way. The three new comers AJ Raval, Rose Van Ginkel and Ana Jalandoni needs to be more natural on acting. Overall, the concept of the movie is good and somehow give us something new to the sexy Filipino comedy genre. Watching the four sexy icons of Philippine cinema in one film is truly the great offering of the film and their combination create a strong ensemble.
