Movie Review: Sunod

Carmina Villaroel  plays a single mother named Olivia who accepts a high-paying but demanding job at a call center so she could pay for her sick daughter’s medical expenses. The new office is located in an old building in Manila. As Olivia tries to adjust to the strange environment, she also experiences a series of spooky events. When the pressures mount and affect her daughter’s behavior, Olivia is forced to uncover the mystery behind the office walls.

Sunod is a suspenseful horror mystery with decent acting by its ensemble cast from Carmina Villaroel, Susan Africa, Mylene Dizon, JC Santos up to Kate Alejandrino. The two promising young actress Krystal Brimner & Rhed Bustamante shine in this film that will shock and scare you at the same time.  I like the performances of the cast and the film got  some interesting shots that worth seeing on big screen. Sunod is an interesting psychological horror that really makes you think about sanity. The soundtrack that was beautifully scored and detailed production design helps to build an eerie atmosphere and vibes of the film. The fast pacing, tight editing and striking cinematography was excellent and works together to deliver a decent pinoy local horror film to watch this Christmas. So if your a fan of the pinoy local horror genre, Sunod is a good catch.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
