Movie Review: Alone/Together

Alone/Together is about Christine Lazaro (Liza Soberano), an aspiring museum director, who meets the carefree Rafael Toldedo (Enrique Gil), a pre-med student during their college years. They instantly have a connection,  which leads to them falling in love and being in relationship. Raf becomes Christine's constant cheerleader, while Christine is the compass that give Raf's life direction. But as their paths leads to different tracks, Christine decides to part ways with Raf.

Through the years. alot has changed between them. During an event, Christine and Raf unexpectedly meet again, and from then on, they reconnect like old friends. But when familiar feelings resurface, Christine and Raf find themelsves falling in love with each other again.

Alone/Together is a truthful moving journey of love story that  comes on when reality bites. This emotionally gripping examination of reunited lovers isn't always easy to watch, but Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil give performances of  unusual depth and power. I can say that this is the best performance to date of Liza Soberano delivering subtle and natural performance. You will definitely cry when she cry. Enrique on the other hand is glowing and perfectly suit to support Liza for this film. Enrique and Liza bring crucial authenticity to  their roles with effortless appeal. You'll find yourself wanting more of these characters than the movie gives you. The Polaroid look for its cinematography is also vital to set the mood of the film. The careful pacing, precise screenplay and competent character study of the leads and its support are  what makes this romance drama so realistic and involving. A wonderful and sincere portrait of right love at the wrong time and how the weight of real life can break the happy-end dream of an ideal couple. Alone/Together is easily the best movie of LizQuen. The film is non-illuminating. It hurts you but somehow inspires and gives you hope.

My Verdict:  4/5
